Io, personalmente, amo progettare posti in cui si mangia e si beve. Non so di preciso perché siano i miei preferiti, ma credo che la ragione principale sia legata all’importanza sociale di tali luoghi in quanto luoghi da frequentare fisicamente, decisamente in opposizione alla tendenza crescente del delivery e quindi dell’isolamento. Del resto l’atto della soddisfazione di uno dei principali bisogni della razza umana, quello di nutrirsi, è da sempre anche un evento sociale non trascurabile. Durante i pasti nella storia dell’uomo è successo di tutto, ma in generale si è diffusa conoscenza,
come se lo stesso atto della condivisione del cibo fosse un acceleratore di un necessario processo di trasformazione, sia positivo che negativo. Nella pratica, potrei andare avanti per ore, ci si è uniti o divisi, ci si è uccisi ed avvelenati, litigato e tradito, imparato e dimenticato, ecc. Insomma uno si siede a tavola o ad un banco, beve un caffè o un bicchiere di vino, oppure fa un pasto completo e prova una specialità tradizionale orientale, ma comunque si guarda intorno, comunica ed apprende. Sia che parli con amici o sconosciuti o che stia zitto, fa un’esperienza reale dove il luogo è parte
fondamentale e complementare.
Personally speaking, I love designing places where you can eat and drink. I don’t really know exactly why they are my favourites, but I think the main reason is linked to the social importance of such places, as they are places you go to physically, and are in direct contrast with the growing trend of home delivery and, consequently, isolation. After all, the act of satisfying one of the most basic of human needs – feeding oneself – has always been an important social event. If you look at the history of man, all sorts of things have happened during meals, but generally speaking knowledge has spread, as though the very act of sharing food accelerates a necessary process of transformation, both in positive and negative terms. In practice, I could go on for hours, it unites and divides, people have been murdered and poisoned, people have argued and betrayed, learnt and forgotten, etc… In short, someone sits down at a table or a bar, has a coffee or a glass of wine, or maybe a complete meal and tries a traditional Eastern delicacy, in any case they look around, they communicate and take it all in. Whether they talk to friends or strangers or sit in silence, they have a real experience in which the surroundings are fundamental and complementary.
