HOTEL PORTRAIT MILANO
Per il progetto di illuminazione per l’Hotel Portrait Milano, abbiamo elaborato una doppia finalità: da un lato illuminare il palazzo nel rispetto assoluto del passato, dall’altro – in modo quasi conflittuale – attuare la celebrazione possibile di un evento effimero, ma elegante, di divenire uno stage attuale immerso nella contemporaneità. Dove il palazzo diventa scenografia e quinta, abbracciando e esaltando con il suo stile la performance nel cortile interno.
Il Portrait Milano è pensato così: un’anima teatrale che si spegne e si accende alla bisogna, una luce funzionale che, se pur racchiusa in lanterne e apparecchi dalla forma antica, segnala e dipinge romanticamente, approfittando della “naturalezza del buio” e del verde.
Qui solo le forme parlano, e la luce dà loro la parola. L’illuminazione rappacifica la tensione dei volumi, ne disegna tutta la loro armonia plastica, la quieta classicità, senza mai accecarla di una luce diretta, sovrabbondante, vorremmo dire violentatrice.
Le luci sembrano inseguire le linee della composizione, le accarezzano delicatamente, come un soffio, senza mai sovra-esporsi. Un omaggio all’eleganza.
Il palazzo non rivela alcun segno del suo abito notturno, lasciando misticamente intatto il suo fulgore ritrovato. Poi, col favore delle tenebre, la sapienza dell’impianto rinascimentale si colora, il Palazzo fiorisce nei suoi elementi, ne riscopre in una antica/nuova veste l’armonia delle forme cinquecentesche.
Hotel Portrait Milano was a project with a dual purpose: on the one hand to illuminate the palace with absolute respect for the past, and on the other – in an almost conflicting way – to implement the possible celebration of an ephemeral but elegant event, to become a current stage immersed in contemporaneity. Where the palace becomes stage set and backdrop, embracing and enhancing the performance in the inner courtyard with its style.
This is how Portrait Milano is conceived: a theatrical soul that turns itself off and on as needed, a functional light that, although enclosed in lanterns and antique-shaped fixtures, romantically signals and paints, taking advantage of the ‘naturalness of darkness’ and green.
Here only forms speak, and light gives them speech. The lighting pacifies the tension of the volumes, drawing out all their plastic harmony, their quiet classicism, without ever blinding it with a direct, overabundant, we might say raping light.
The lights seem to follow the lines of the composition, caressing them delicately, like a breath, without ever overexposing themselves. A tribute to elegance.
The palace reveals no sign of its nocturnal dress, mystically leaving its rediscovered splendour intact. Then, in the favour of darkness, the wisdom of the Renaissance layout is coloured, the palace blossoms in its elements, rediscovering in an ancient/new guise the harmony of its 16th century forms.
