FRAME EMOTIONS

Alexander Bellman e Gruppo C14 partecipano alla Design Week milanese con un contributo esposto alla mostra di Interni, ospitata nel Cortile d’Onore dell’Università degli Studi di Milano. Il tema dell’evento, House in Motion, ci ha subito intrigato: la casa di oggi – in bilico tra passato e futuro – aspetta di essere definita, descritta, interpretata. È una casa in movimento, un luogo fisico cui ritornare ma, anche, uno spazio mobile da portare con sé o da aprire agli altri. Agli amici, agli ospiti, ai viaggiatori come noi. Il disegno dell’installazione Frame Emotions nasce da un’aspirazione infantile che ricordiamo tutti, legata all’esercizio che si faceva da bambini di disegnare la casa senza mai staccare la penna dal foglio. La sfida risiede nel mettere insieme uno strumento come il telefonino, la prima interfaccia di cui disponiamo riguardo ai concetti di mobilità e di velocità, con un elemento statico quale la costruzione architettonica, la casa. Dal punto di vista della materia fisica, della tridimensionalità dell’oggetto le pareti sono state riportate a livello di telaio, di frame, messo in risalto dalle luci Linealight Group, mentre da un punto di vista concettuale abbiamo riportato la tecnologia al frame inteso come immagine. L’installazione invita a una riflessione profonda, contrapponendo in modo provocatorio due rappresentazioni della casa che, benché divergenti, si ricollegano allo stesso archetipo. Casa tradizionale e casa contemporanea convivono e interagiscono nel dualismo tra il wireframe della struttura aperta e il volume pieno: si annulla l’opposizione proiettando un mondo nell’altro. Oggi lo spazio abitato non si misura più solo in metri: a questi si sommano i pixel delle stanze virtuali che, ad altissima velocità, prendono forma sui nostri dispositivi portatili. Al disegno abbiamo affiancato un altro livello di lettura: Frame Emotions o il tempo di vivere. È questo il concetto espresso, con divertita ironia, dai contenuti realizzati da Alexander Bellman con la collaborazione del video artist Endrit Muhametaj. Una sequenza di immagini in super slow motion che illustrano, con l’ausilio degli smartphone Samsung Galaxy S9 e S9+, l’idea di mobilità temporale che ha plasmato le nostre esistenze. Oltre la frenesia del mondo contemporaneo ci sono istanti che vale la pena vivere con lentezza. Riprendiamoli, sì, ma riprendiamoceli anche.

Alexander Bellman and Gruppo C14 take part in Milan Design Week with a contribution displayed at the Interni exhibition, housed in the Cortile d’Onore within the Università degli Studi di Milano.The event’s theme this year, House in Motion, immediately sparked our interest: the house of today – straddling the past and the future – is waiting to be defined, described, interpreted. It is a house in motion, a physical place to come back to as well as a mobile place to take away or to open up to others. To friends, guests, and to travellers like us.The design of the Frame Emotions installation originated from a childhood ambition we can all remember, the exercise we did as children which involved drawing a house with one continuous line, without ever lifting the pencil from the paper. The challenge was to add a tool such as a mobile phone, the first interface we use in terms of the concepts of mobility and speed, to a static element such as an architectural structure, the home. In terms of physical materials, of the three dimensional aspect of the object, the walls were positioned on the same level as the frame and further enhanced by the Linealight Group lighting. While conceptually speaking we presented the technology of the frame in terms of an image.
Visitors are invited to carefully consider the installation It provokes a reaction by juxtaposing two representations of the home which, though different, connect to the same archetype. The traditional home and the contemporary home co-exist and interact in the dualism between the wireframe open structure and the solid volume: the opposition is annulled by projecting one world into the other. Today, living space is no longer measured in metres only: they are joined by the pixels of virtual rooms which take shape on our devices at incredibly high speed. We added another layer of meaning to the design: Frame Emotions or time to live. This is the concept humorously expressed by the content created by Alexander Bellman with the collaboration of video artist Endrit Muhametaj. A sequence of super slow motion images which illustrate, with the help of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones, the idea of temporal mobility which has shaped our very existence. Beyond the hustle and bustle of the contemporary world, there are moments worth experiencing slowly. So let’s record them, yes, but let’s repossess them too.
