That marked propensity towards internationality, which has always been a deep-rooted characteristic of our studio’s genetic makeup, is carrying us off to unexpected far-off horizons. Despite my family being Milanese for generations my name is Alexander Bellman and I have always believed that I was destined for the life of a nomad, but 15 years ago, even though we were already present in Europe and in America, I honestly never thought we’d be offered such important professional opportunities all over the world but particularly in Asia, in the Far East ( nothing to do with Sergio Leone’s Far West, which inspired the summer dreams of my youth at the open-air cinema during my long periods of exile in Ravenna ). Yes, of course, it is also about market requirements forcing us to be constantly on the go, but it’s not only that: it’s the irrepressible attraction towards creative freedom within new rules, the introduction to different worlds and cultures, the pursuit of new styles and original architectural solutions. This is what the Boundaries article talks about, via the analysis of a complex Italy-China interior design project, reinterpreted from a general perspective. Wait, I almost forgot about Ghana, about African soil and Matteo Nobili missing in action. In fact we haven’t had any word from him for months apart from a rather worrying photo documentary which I decided to give pride of place on the central pages of the magazine, with the obvious aim being commemorative.
