GruppoC14 exports the design project for Peuterey stores to China, specifically the Changing District in Takashimaya, Shanghai.
The concept adapted for stores in the Far East originates from the reinterpretation of materials and cardinal elements of the projects already completed for the stores in Antwerp and Berlin, namely: concrete walls supporting flexible hanging rails made of bronzed brass, smooth opaque slate framing a soft central carpet, the sensuous curves of slender brass bars and lastly, panels of glass and metallic mesh echoing the texture of Peuterey jackets.
The oriental influence can be seen in the meticulous attention to the fine balancing of materials and space, a clear reference to the rules of Feng Shui.
According to Feng Shui the idea of balance is perceived via harmony between the materials and colours of the objects adhering to the relationships of generation and control defined by the principles of the five basic elements, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood, organised within a specific space which respects the energy flows and harmonious relationship between people and the space itself. In accordance with this principle the curved lines of the cylindrical elements not only echo the silhouette of the Peuterey jacket but also sit comfortably inside the store as they respect the energy flows and while referring to Chi, the cardinal symbol of this principle.
